Moisture Diagnostic

Method

Thermal Imaging

Infrared finds temperature anomalies; confirmation makes them findings.

An infrared camera sees surface temperature differences caused by moisture, insulation gaps and air paths. It is fast, non-contact and best used with confirmatory methods.

How it works

  • Scanning under suitable temperature conditions
  • Annotating anomalies with reference temperatures
  • Confirming each anomaly with moisture or acoustic testing

Limits, stated plainly

  • Weather and sun affect readings
  • Some anomalies are insulation, not water
  • Sealed cavities may need an access point

Quick answers

Is Thermal Imaging invasive?

No. The method works from surfaces and accessible points; if a small access point is needed to confirm a finding, it is discussed before anything is opened.

Can Thermal Imaging be used on its own?

Thermal Imaging is strongest when paired with a confirming method. Findings are only reported once verified, which is why single-method clues are labelled as such.
